Let's understand and have a brief information about DSS Plug Valves .Duplex steel Plug Valve is a quarter-turn rotational motion metal body Valve (The plug is rotated a fourth of a full turn to change from open to shut positions, therefore the ports are typically at opposite ends of the body. This makes this kind of plug valve a quarter-turn valve) that use a tapered or cylindrical plug to stop or start the flow. In the open position, the plug-passage is in one line with the inlet and outlet ports of the Valve body in this type or design of valves. If the plug 90° is rotated from the open position, the solid or blank part of the plug blocks the port and stops the flow. We can say that Duplex steel Plug valves are similar to Ball valves in operation, but not in design. The only difference in both this type of valves is we have plug to stop or start the flow in plug valves where as we have ball to stop or start the flow in Duplex steel ball valves.

The simplest and most common general type of Duplex steel plug valve is a 2-port valve, which has two positions, open to allow flow, and closed (shut) to stop flow. In this design ports are openings in the valve body through which fluid can enter or leave. The plug in this kind of duplex steel valve has one passageway going through it. There is often a mechanism limiting motion of the handle to a quarter turn, but not in glass stopcocks.

The port in the tapered plug is normally rectangular, but we can also manufacture plug with round ports and diamond ports.We do manufacture and supply Plug valves with cylindrical plugs. The cylindrical plugs ensure greater port openings equal to or larger than the run pipe flow area.

Lubricated Plug valves are provided with a cavity in the middle along there axis. This cavity is closed at the bottom and fitted with a sealant-injection fitting at the top. The lubricant in effect becomes a structural part of the Valve, as it provides flexible and renewable seat.

Non lubricated Duplex Steel Plug valves contain an electrometric body liner or a sleeve, which is installed in the valve body cavity. The tapered and polished plug acts like a wedge and presses the sleeve against the body. Thus, the nonmetallic sleeve reduces the friction between the plug and the valve body.

Rectangular port plugs are the most common port shape in duplex steel plug valves. The rectangular port represents 70 to 100 % of the internal run pipe area. Round port plugs have a round opening through the plug. If the port opening is the same size or larger than the inside diameter of the run pipe, a full port is meant. If the opening is smaller than the inside diameter of the pipe, a standard round port is meant. Diamond port plug has a diamond-shaped port through the plug and they are aventurine restricted flow types. This design is suitable for throttling application service.
